data

Why collect data?

Data is at the center of understanding and addressing systemic racism. The Racial Justice Alliance remains committed to advocating for the continuous and consistent collection of racially disaggregated data across all state and local systems.

For far too long have Black and Brown folks urged the collection of data for the purposes of merely advancing a discussion on systemic racism beyond that which is anecdotal. The discussion is different now. Making progress towards parity demands an iterative approach involving data analysis and impactful policy that eradicates systemic racism informed by reliable data. Now more than ever, we have the ability to gather the data required to advance the anti-racism work of the future.
